Commissioner proposes that Caddo Parish pay entire cost
SHREVEPORT, La. (KMSS) — Commissioner Michael Williams has proposed to the Caddo Commission to pay the full cost of installing a water line along Wells Island Road.
The resolution was presented yesterday and will be on the table when the commission meets this Thursday.
The project is expected to cost around $250,000 to complete.
Back in December of last year, residents and businesses along Wells Island Road were without water for a few days after the city of Shreveport shut off service for nonpayment by Analytical Logging, which was redistributing water illegally to residents and businesses.
The parish provided temporary water in the form of a 500-gallon tank and later by taking over the city’s water meter and lines serving the north Caddo community for six months while commissioners were to work on a long-term solution.
Residents still have water, but if a permanent resolution is not finalized by the June 19th deadline, the Department of Health plans to shut the water lines off for good.
