Jefferson, Mackey Earn 5A MVP Honors

Quarterback Jordan Jefferson of Destrehan and linebacker Trent Mackey of Carencro have been cited as the Most Valuable Players on the 2007 Class 5A All-State football team selected by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.
Ted Davidson of Acadiana, whose team has reached the title game for three consecutive seasons, is the Coach of the Year.
Jefferson, a 6-foot-3, 190-pound senior, directed Destrehan to a 15-0 mark and the state title. Jefferson completed 138 of 206 passes for 1,798 yards and 17 touchdowns with three interceptions in the regular season.
Mackey, a 5-foot-11, 215-pound Carencro senior had 54 tackles, 49 assists, 13 tackles for losses and five sacks.
