Baylor women's basketball posted its best-ever NCAA home attendance ranking and Big 12 women's basketball led the nation in average attendance in 2012-13 for the 14th consecutive year, outdistancing the nearest competitor by over 1,000 fans a game.

This past season Baylor averaged 9,160 fans a contest, finishing a program-best No. 4 nationally, its previous high was No. 6 (2010-11, `11-12) . The Lady Bears broke their average home attendance record of 8,563 fans, set in 2011-12.

In addition, Baylor tied its all-time single-game attendance record with 10,627 vs. Kansas State on March 4. It marked the program's 12th sellout, was the 20th 10,000-plus crowd in program history and third of the 2012-13 season (West Virginia, 10,254; Oklahoma, 10,419).

Baylor's 155,713 home attendance (17 games) marks the third-highest single-season in school history (the top two years BU played 21 and 19 home games respectively). The 2012-13 season marked the eighth straight year that Baylor has drawn 100,000 or more fans through the Ferrell Center doors.

Also, Baylor's attendance of 19,192 for 2013 NCAA Championship first- and second-round games ranked highest among all sites.

Tennessee (11,390), Iowa State (9,970) and Louisville (9,358) finished ahead of the Lady Bears in NCAA attendance rankings. Notre Dame, Connecticut, Purdue, New Mexico, Texas Tech and Michigan State rounded out the top 10.

The Big 12's average of 4,922 topped the second-place Big Ten by 1,018 spectators. Overall, the Big 12's average more than doubled that of 26 of the 31 leagues. The Big 12's cumulative attendance of 846,502 was second by just 8,959 fans to the SEC (855,461) which has four more teams.

The Big 12 continues to hold NCAA records for both cumulative attendance (1,021,289 in 2009-10) and average attendance (5,331 in 2001-02) while remaining the only conference to draw one million spectators, which it achieved on six occasions.
