Plain Dealing man arrested for fighting with girlfriend
Bossier Sheriff Larry Deen says a Plain Dealing man was arrested early Wednesday morning after he got into a physical altercation with his live-in girlfriend.
Michael R. Harkey, 31, of the 200 block of Lee Road, was involved in a verbal argument with his live-in girlfriend of five months at their residence around 2:40 a.m. today. Harkey had been drinking earlier in the evening and became aggressive while arguing with his girlfriend over a family matter. She tried to get away from Harkey, but he grabbed her arm and tried to pin it behind her back. She was able to break loose, but Harkey pushed her down to the floor, causing her to hit her head and elbow.
When the Bossier deputies and Plain Dealing police officer arrived at the residence, Harkey was found hiding in a shed behind the home. The officers gave him several commands to come out, but he refused. One of the deputies entered the shed and was able to take Harkey into custody without incident.
Harkey was charged with domestic abuse battery and resisting and transported to the Bossier Maximum Security Facility for booking; his bond is pending.
