Bossier Parish – On Tuesday at 6:37 p.m Louisiana State troopers were called to a two-vehicle crash on Benton Road, just south of Cashpoint Road. A Bossier City woman and her 1-year-old child were both seriously injured in the crash.

According to investigating troopers, 18-year old Andrea C. Schieme and her 1-year-old daughter were traveling south on Benton in the outside lane when they approached slow moving traffic. For unknown reasons, Schieme's car hit the back of a pickup driven by 68-year old John R. Cunningham, of Bossier City.

Prior to the crash, the truck had its emergency signals activated while escorting a slow moving commercial farm tractor.

Schieme was wearing a seat belt and her daughter was restrained in a car seat at the time of the crash. The 1-year old was flown to a local hospital in Shreveport with serious injuries. Schieme, who also sustained serious injuries in the crash was also taken to a hospital.

Cunningham was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was not injured.

Toxicology test results are pending and the crash remains under investigation.
