Women's squabble over same lover turns violent

Two women's dispute over a man turns violent Tuesday afternoon.

Police say they were called to a home in the 300 block of West 69th Street around 1 p.m. on reports of a stabbing.

When officers arrived on scene, they found Shaquintin Johnson, 22, with severe cuts to both sides of her neck. She was quickly taken to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

After some digging, investigators were able to unfold the story. They say Johnson and another woman, 20-year-old Crystal Code, were apparently squabbling over a man they were both romantically involved with.

Witnesses told police Johnson went to Code's home and confronted her. Code, who was standing on her front porch, went back inside her house, but was followed in and attacked by Johnson. During the fight, Code pulled a box cutter and slashed the other woman.

Authorities have charged Johnson, of Shreveport, with one count of home invasion. She will be booked into the Shreveport City Jail once she is released from the hospital.

Police will forward their findings to the Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office for review to determine if Code will face any criminal charges.
