Shreveport, LA (KMSS) — Women all over the nation, including here in the Ark-La-Tex face all sorts of issues. From the economy to housing to education, women have a hard time breaking the glass ceiling and getting to be a equal participant in the economy.
In celebration of Women's History Month, Louisiana Progress and other groups came together to talk about those issues in their Celebration of the Power of Women week of events. They worked hard planning their seminars, trying to find something to interest every woman, from the perception of women by the media, to health issues and even federal issues.
After the 2012 election, some of the members of Louisiana Progress felt they were lied to on many issues important to women. The group hosted a forum Monday night to talk about some of those issues and how they can be addressed.
In having active forums like Monday night's, the women hope that the these issues will soon be achieved and the next generation won't even have to worry about being an equal participant in society.
