A vagrant is jailed after allegedly get caught in the act of stealing from a Texarkana home.
Vance Allen Brown, 19, is accused of burglarizing a house around 2:07 a.m. on Randall Road.
The caller told deputies she was returning home when she saw a black SUV with the light off sitting in the middle of the roadway near her residence. As she came closer to the vehicle, the lights cut on and the driver sped off. However, she was able to provide a license plate number to authorities.
The victim told sheriff's officials that she immediately noticed her flat screen TV was gone upon entering her house. The victim called 911 and got back in her vehicle to search for the suspected vehicle, and found it on Randall Road, but it sped away again.
A Bowie County deputy located the vehicle and tried to stop the vehicle, but again the SUV drove away. After a pursuit, the suspect stopped and the driver, identified as Vance Allen Brown, was found to be in possession of items taken in the reported burglary on Randall Road and was arrested.
The reported stolen items recovered included:
- Mp3 player
- A Virgin Blackberry cell phone
- shotgun shells
- a Nintendo DS
- Vizio 42” TV
- Gateway Laptop computer
- Dewalt 18 v drill
- Fatham golf club bag with 8 clubs
Brown was also arrested on 3 Class C misdemeanor warrants. He is charged with burglary of a habitation, evading in a vehicle bond and failure to identify. His bond is set at $40,000.
