Monday, January 28, 2013 - 4:37pm

Update:

Around 4pm Monday, Bossier City Police Department announced they believe these deaths to be the result of a murder-suicide. After a coroner's investigation, police believe 86 year old Roy Mitchell shot and killed his wife 84 year old Margaret Mitchell before turning the gun on himself.

While investigating the home, police found the two with gun shot wounds, and were also able to find a gun on the premises.

Neighbors tell us, the wife, in her 80's, had been suffering from cancer and the man, also in his 80's, was very frail.

Bossier City police are continuing their investigations into the shootings.

Original: An elderly couple was found dead in their Bossier City home this morning, by members of the family, around 10a.m. Police say there was no sign of forced entry, but the bodies show signs of trauma. The violent crimes unit was brought in for further investigation into what may have happened.

Neighbors in the 2400 block of Belmont Blvd. are somewhat surprised because this is thought of as a safe
neighborhood, but they know crime can happen anywhere.

Details are still coming in and we'll have more on this story tonight at 9pm on FOX 33 News Ark-La-Tex.
