TX man on synthetic drugs bites officer's finger, mother's face, resists arrest
Waco, Tx (KWKT) — A Waco man is in jail after biting an officer's finger, resisting arrest, and biting his mother in the face.
At 5:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 2100 block of Daughtry on reports of a domestic disturbance from an 11-year-old girl. She told police her father, Richard Allen Butler, 27, had attacked his mother and wife.
During the assault, Butler allegedly strangled and bit his mother and would not let either woman leave the room. The child called 911 after seeing Butler block the victims from reaching out for help.
When police made it to the scene, witnesses told them Butler had been drinking and smoking synthetic marijuana.
While trying to take Butler into custody, he bit one the officers on his index finger, crushing the bone and nearly severing the tip of his finger.
The suspect's 47-year-old mother suffered a severe laceration to her nose from the first bite attack.
Butler was demanded officers shoot him and was eventually arrested after being tased.
After being medically cleared, Richard Butler was taken to the McLennan County Jail and has been charged with aggravated assault on a peace officer, family violence assault/strangulation, interference with an emergency phone call, unlawful restraint, and resisting arrest.
