Troopers plan to crack down on drunk drivers in Webster Parish

Wednesday, September 12, 2012 - 5:34pm

In an effort to combat impaired driving in our area, Louisiana State Police Troop G plans to conduct a DWI checkpoint on Friday, September 14, 2012, from approximately 10:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. at an undisclosed location in Webster Parish. Our mission will be to find and remove impaired drivers from the road before they can cause injury or death to themselves or others.

Last year, Troop G investigated 25 fatal crashes. Of those 25 crashes, 12 (48%) involved impaired drivers (alcohol and/or drugs). Motorists are asked to remember to designate a sober driver before traveling to any place where alcohol will be consumed. Drive sober or get pulled over.

To report impaired drivers, motorists are encouraged to dial *LSP (*577) from their cellular phone or to contact their local law enforcement agency.

Support for this checkpoint is provided by the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission.
