Shreveport (KMSS) — Shreveport Police have taken into custody a suspect charged in connection with a man's murder and a woman's attempted murder earlier this week.
Police stated Chevis Carter, 33, was arrested Thursday afternoon after he was caught by authorities near the intersection of Olive Street at Centenary Boulevard. Police were looking for Carter after he allegedly shot and killed a man on May 20. The victim has yet to be identified.
Also injured during the shooting was Carter's ex-girlfriend, Dwan Gales. The suspect is accused of kicking in the door of Gale's home and shooting her and a male acquaintance.
Gales continues to recover at a local hospital from a single gunshot wound to the face. Following his arrest, Carter was taken to Shreveport Police Headquarters where interviews were conducted by investigators.
Carter was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on the outstanding warrant, charging him with one count of attempted second degree murder and one count of second degree murder.
