Suspect arrested in shots fired incident

A Shreveport man has been arrested after allegedly firing multiple shots into a car near west Shreveport Wednesday evening.

Just before 5:30 p.m., Shreveport Police responded to reports of vehicle that had been struck by gunfire while near the intersection of Mansfield Road at Murray Street.

Police later discovered the vehicle at a home several blocks away on Clover Street. Contact at the residence was made with an adult female who advised that while riding inside a vehicle with her current boyfriend, her estranged ex- boyfriend, 23 year old Oquez Allen, pulled alongside their vehicle and began shouting.

The woman advised that Allen exited his the vehicle armed with a hand gun. The woman, who exited the vehicle with a small child, could only watch as Allen allegedly fired upwards of 10 rounds into the car occupied by her boyfriend. The woman's boyfriend reportedly returned fired in the direction of Allen, who fled the scene driving a black sedan.

No one was struck during the exchange of gunfire. The woman's boyfriend was detained by police on scene, while officers located Oquez Allen at an apartment complex in the 3500 block of Milam Street less than an hour later. Both men were detained for questioning by authorities.

Upon gathering additional details and witness accounts of the shooting, investigators with Shreveport Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit arrested Allen charging him with a single count of Illegal use of a weapon.

Allen was also wanted on an outstanding warrant through another jurisdiction.

For his alleged role in the shooting, Allen was booked into the Shreveport City Jail.

There were no additional arrests made.
