Storm damage reports for NETX, northwest LA

Harrison County officials have been notified by the National Weather Service that there was an “indication” of a tornado that has caused damage in Waskom, Elysian Fields, and Greenwood, Louisiana. There has been no confirmation of this, yet, and it will only be after the storm has passed that they can assess the area.

Harrison Co. authorities, Texas DPS, Texas Department of Transportation, and Waskom PD are assessing the damage and the needs in this area.

There are confirmed SWEPCO power lines down in the Waskom area and they are responding to the scene.

Until the National Weather Service or NOAA confirms the presence of a tornado, officials are addressing this event as a severe storm with damaging high winds.

Damages have been reported in the following areas:

  • Shreveport, LA area - According to the National Weather Service, a funnel cloud was spotted at 3:07 p.m., at the 9000 block of Youree Drive and traveling southeast, wind damage, trees blocking roadway.
     
  • Greenwood, LA area - Signs down on I-20 and shed destroyed, semi blown on side.
     
  • Stonewall, LA area - Quarter sized hail.
     
  • Waskom, TX area - Tree falls on truck injuring two reported at 2:30 p.m.
     
  • Natchitoches, LA area - Quarter sized hail.
