Shreveport, LA (KMS) — January 15, the Caddo School Board announced they wouldn't be renewing the contract of current superintendent Gerald Dawkins.
Since then, the school board had worked toward finding a replacement for Dawkins, narrowing their choices down to 3 candidates Katrise Perera, John Dilworth and Mary Nash Robinson.
After meeting with all 3 candidates last week, the board announced they would vote on the candidates Monday evening. When the time for the meeting came, the board room was full of people waiting to hear who Caddo's next superintendent would be.
The board took the matter to vote, and was split down the middle. 6 board members voted for Dilworth and the other 6 voted for Robinson.
The vote put Perera out of the running for superintendent, but also means that when school starts in two weeks, there will not be a superintendent in place.
The board will now work to name an interim superintendent until they can decide between the two remaining candidates.
