SPD releases names of officer involved in shooting

The Shreveport Police Department has released the names of two officers involved in a shooting incident last weekend in downtown Shreveport.

On Saturday, Officer Michael Flentge and Corporal Jeremy Edwards were placed on paid administrative leave by Chief of Police Willie Shaw pending an investigation into a shooting incident which occurred at 3:50 a.m. on the same day.

During the incident, both officers fired their service guns at an armed suspect, who was arrested after he reportedly fired multiple rounds from a handgun into the direction of people gathered near the 600 block of Commerce Street.

Neither officer was injured during the ordeal which remains under investigation.
