Shreveport Police are seeking the whereabouts and identity of the person responsible for a shooting over the weekend which sent a local man to the hospital.
Just after 10:30 p.m. on June 28, 2014, Shreveport Police officers responded to the 3000 block of Fulton Street relative to reports a man had been shot there. Upon the arrival of officers, contact was made with the 21 year old male victim. The man was suffering a single gunshot wound to the right thigh area. The victim was subsequently transported to University Health Medical Center for treatment of injury considered to be non life-threatening.
Shreveport Police Violent Crimes detectives arrived on scene at the shooting launching an immediate investigation. Information was gathered during their probe indicating the victim was walking in the 3000 block of Fulton Street with a group of associates when they were approached by the suspect. It was alleged the suspect challenged the victim to a fight, and for unknown reasons began shooting at him. No other injuries were reported. The suspect ran away on foot following the shooting and is being sought at this hour. Police believe the shooting was not a random act and are confident an arrest is imminent.
