Shreveport, LA (KMSS) — Darras Lattier has been working on his startup for years. After living in Dallas , Altlanta, and even Japan, he settled on Shreveport to be the home of his company Digital Lion, saying, "I think that there's a lot of opportunity that not too many of us know about and I think we're kind of getting speed with that, and more people are coming aware."
Even more so now that Wallet-Hub.com has ranked Shreveport as the 18th most start up friendly place in the nation.
That announcement didn't surprise entrepreneur Rob Gaudet who has been working with various startups for years and is now working on a social media aggregator. "I've recently pivoted to Hash Parade so I have a lot of experience doing a start up in this community, and the fact that I'm still around really says a lot about the friendliness of the area. It's a lot of effort. It takes a lot of really good people helping you."
In Shreveport. entrepreneurs have the benefit of Cohab...a collaborative workspace where they can rent workspaces and take part in business programs. Cohab offers various programs for people to learn different business aspects. Executive Director John Grindley explains the thought behind Cohab, "what they really need is mentorship, they need access to knowledge...And when you throw them in an environment like this, it's so collaborative, and there's so many people to tap on the shoulder to ask that question, you're going to get answers."
While these entreupreneurs are happy about the ranking, none can say they're surprised.
