Shreveport Police looking for man who kidnapped four year old girl

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a Shreveport man accused of kidnapping a four year old child earlier this week.

On Wednesday, June 19, 2013, Shreveport Police were called to a home in the 100 block of West 78th Street for a disorderly person.

On arrival, contact was made with an adult female who had said that her ex-boyfriend, Desmond Edwards, 26, had entered her home without permission and took her four year old daughter.

Authorities were told that Edwards fled the home with the child driving a grey colored Dodge Durango SUV.

Shreveport Detectives were called to the scene and immediately launched an investigation. During the investigation, authorities spoke with Edwards via phone, they were able to get a safe return of the child to her mother.

The child, who was returned home by a third party two hours later, was uninjured during the incident. Authorities are now looking for Desmond Edwards who is wanted on charges of Simple Kidnapping.

Bond in the matter has been set at $180,000. Caddo Crime Stoppers is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest of Edwards.
