Shreveport, LA (KMSS) — One woman is injured after a shooting at a local parking lot.
It happened just after 4:30 a.m. on Saturday in the 5300 block of Monkhouse Drive when officers with the Shreveport Police Department was called to the area for reports of gunshots fired in the parking lot crowded with people.
On arrival, officers found 150 to 200 people gathered on the parking lot loitering when several gunshots rang out.
At least one person was struck by gunfire during this incident. Monaaye Clark, 25, of Shreveport was suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. She was taken to a local hospital by a private vehicle. She was treated for her injuries which were considered to be non life-threatening.
Shreveport Police Violent Crimes detectives were called to the scene and they began their investigation into the shooting.
Police collected several shell casings from the scene and they are being processed as evidence.
Authorities also learned during the inquiry that an argument between two groups of women had reportedly taken place on the parking lot just moments before the shots rang out.
Officers are now focusing their efforts on identifying and apprehending those persons involved in the shooting.
