Shreveport, LA (KMSS) — Shreveport police are investigating a weekend shooting that left two people injured near west Shreveport.
Just after 1:30 a.m., on Sunday, Shreveport police responded to the Louisiana State Fairgrounds relative to a reported shooting. Upon officers arrival at the scene, contact was made with victims, Tabius Brown, 19, and Sharde Edwards, 22, who were each suffering an apparent gunshot wound to the leg area. Both victims were transported to LSUHSC for treatment of injuries that were considered non life threatening.
Shreveport Police Violent Crimes detectives were called to investigate the crime, during which time they were able to gather information relative to what transpired moments before the shooting. It was learned during the inquiry, that Brown and Edwards, along with a crowd of approximately 200 others, were gathered on the fairgrounds parking lot when an exchange of gunfire between two separate groups of adolescent males erupted. There is no evidence at this time to suggest Brown or Edwards were affiliated with the shooters, as it appears they were merely struck amid the melee while attempting to flee the area. Several spent shell casings were recovered at the scene of the shooting; however at this stage of the investigation, authorities are still seeking to determine the origins of the initial gathering of the group on the fairgrounds as well as identify and apprehend those persons responsible for the shooting.
