Shreveport, LA (KMSS) — A local man has died following a stabbing that occurred in north Shreveport, Tuesday evening.
Just after 7:00 p.m., Shreveport Police responded to a stabbing call at a home located in the 1600 block of David Raines Road. Upon the arrival of officers, information was gathered that Frank Smith, 32, suffered a single stab wound to the abdomen following an argument involving a known suspect while at the home. Smith succumbed to his injuries shortly upon transport to LSUHSC.
Shreveport Police Violent Crimes detectives responded to the scene of the crime immediately launching an inquiry into the stabbing.
Preliminary investigation suggests Smith was involved in a verbal dispute with Carl Love, 51, when it turned physical.
It is alleged that Smith, upon arming himself with a blunt object, initiated an attack on Love, who reportedly stabbed Smith in response. Love was interviewed by police investigators while at Shreveport Police headquarters and released.
At current, no charges have been filed in the matter as the investigation continues.
