Authorities have obtained an arrest warrant for a local man accused of shooting two people at a house party late last month.

Police detectives have procured an arrest warrant charging 31-year-old Melvin R. Patterson, of Shreveport, with one count of attempted first degree murder in connection with the shooting of 31-year-old Bessie Jordan and 34-year-old Louis Grant, Jr., back on July 29 outside of a residence in the 8500 block of Elmview Place. Both victims were taken to a local hospital where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from an ongoing dispute between Patterson and one or more persons attending the party on Elmview Place. Patterson’s bond has been set at $150,000.

Police are asking anyone who has information regarding the whereabouts of Melvin Patterson to contact Shreveport-Caddo Parish Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373 or www.lockemup.org
