Shreveport man wanted for attacking wife

Authorities are looking for a local man in connection with a reported domestic assault.

At around 1:28 a.m. on July 7, officers were called to a domestic trouble call in the 100 block of Albany Avenue.When officers arrived, they talked to a woman who reported her husband, 37-year-old Michael Payne, attacked her during an argument and pushed her to the ground before leaving. The suspect returned home there on Albany Avenue while officers were still on scene and he was taken into custody without incident.

During the course of their initial investigation, police seized a semi-automatic rifle from the suspect who was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of domestic abuse battery.

Detectives with the police department’s Domestic Violence Unit were assigned the case and, based on information and evidence gathered during their inquiry, obtained an arrest warrant charging Payne, of the 100 block of Albany Avenue in Shreveport, with one count of second degree battery and one count of domestic abuse aggravated assault. The warrant specifies Payne will be held without bond.
