A Shreveport man is hospitalized after getting stabbed in the head during a fight.

At around 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Shreveport officers were called to the 900 block of Windsor Drive to a fight. Upon arrival, patrolmen found 25-year-old Azavia Fuller with a single stab wound to the head. Fuller, who was conscious and breathing, was taken to a local by the Shreveport Fire Department with serious injuries.

Investigators discovered Fuller and another man, identified as 19-year-old Darwin Brookings, had been involved in some sort of dispute that culminated that morning when Fuller and another person attacked Brookings as he stood in his own yard.

According to witness accounts, as well as other information gathered at the scene, Brookings pulled a knife and stabbed Fuller in an effort to stop the attack.

Fuller, who is still at the hospital, has been charged with one count of simple battery. Brookings was taken to police headquarters where he was interviewed by authorities and released.

Investigators report their inquiry is ongoing at this hour and, once complete, will be forwarded to the Caddo Parish District Attorney's Office for review to determine if Brookings will face charges.
