Shreveport, La — A local man is behind bars thanks to a patrol officer who just happened to spot him making off with a stolen leaf blower in Shreveport’s South Highlands neighborhood early yesterday morning.
At approximately 3:25 a.m. on July 26, 2012, Shreveport Police Patrolman John Lee observed a male subject walking in the 500 block of Ockley Drive. A short time later Officer Lee saw the same man, who had been empty-handed earlier, on Fern Avenue carrying a leaf blower. As soon as the man saw the marked unit, he secreted the lawn implement in some bushes. Officer Lee detained the individual, later identified as 47 year old Kenneth W. Anderson, and began an investigation.
Upon further inquiry, assisting officers discovered the blower had been stolen from the garage of a home in the 500 block of Ockley Drive. Anderson, of the 2000 block of Murray Street in Shreveport, was subsequently booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of simple burglary. Detectives are following up on this case in an effort to determine if he is responsible for other similar crimes.
