Shreveport clerk seriously injured in violent robbery

A Shreveport Family Dollar employee was hospitalized Sunday night after he was shot during a robbery at the store.

Shortly after 8:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 3700 block of Jewella Avenue on reports of an armed robbery at the business. When police made it to the scene, they learned a man armed with a handgun entered the store and approached the clerk.

Authorities believe during the confrontation, the gunman shot the employee in his upper body. Following the shooting, the bandit stole money from the register and ran from the store.

The robber is described as a black male, about five foot eight inches tall, and was wearing dark clothing with a bandana over his face. The man is believed to be driving an older model white box style Chevrolet Caprice.

The victim, Bobby Carr, 27, of Shreveport, was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries, but medical officials expect him to survive.
