Shreveport, LA (KMSS) — According to officials, tourist numbers were up by 3 percent compared to this time last year.
The Shreveport-Bossier gaming market also played a significant part in the increase bringing in almost half of the business.
"We have had several new attractions open up, ranging from the Margaretville Resort and Casino, to the zip line out at gators and friends to the hip hop summer rodeo. We have had a lot of new things to do in the market this summer and that's always fun to promote," said Chris Jay with the Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau.
Officials are expecting August to be the busiest month this summer before kids head back to school.
