Shreveport authorities search for gunmen in downtown shooting

Tuesday, July 3, 2012 - 1:10pm

Authorities are looking for at least three suspects in connection with the shooting of a local man near downtown Shreveport last night.

At approximately 5:21 p.m. on July 2, 2012, Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to a home in the 1100 block of Snow Street relative to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found 58 year old Jimmy Taylor suffering from gunshot wounds to the shoulder and foot. Taylor was subsequently transported to a local hospital by the Shreveport Fire Department with what were initially described as potentially life-threatening injuries. Medical personnel now report they expect him to recover.

Detectives responded and discovered that three men pulled up to the house on Snow Street in a black Volkswagen and confronted Taylor inside the residence there. During the course of some sort of dispute between Taylor and the men, at least one of the suspects produced a firearm and fired multiple shots at him. The men then fled the scene of the crime on foot, abandoning the Volkswagen. The suspects, described only as black males, are still on the run at this hour. Anyone with any information regarding this crime is urged to contact Shreveport-Caddo Parish Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373 or www.lockemup.org
