Ruston, La — A second person has died following a major, two-vehicle crash involving a semi last week near Ruston.
At 11:30 p.m., on Thursday, state troopers responded to a wreck on Interstate 20, about 12 miles west of Ruston.
An investigation revealed a car, driven by Michael Hubbard, 25, of Shreveport, was heading east on Interstate 20 when it crossed the median and hit an 18-wheeler, driven by David Alday, of Jaurez, Mexico, 41, traveling west on I-20.
Hubbard was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lincoln Parish Coroner’s Office. Two passengers in the car, Andrew Perkins, 25 of Shreveport, Jarde Miller, 23, of Bossier City, were taken to a Shreveport hospital with critical injuries. A third passenger in the car, a minor, was also taken to a nearby hospital with moderate injuries.
A family member tells KMSS Miller is currently in stable condition. The minor's status is unknown.
Perkins has now been pronounced dead, according to the Caddo Parish Coroner's Office. Both people killed were students at Grambling, according to WDSU.
Alday was wearing his seat belt and did not report any injuries. Investigators do not believe he was impaired in any way when the crash occurred.
