"Routine" stop leads to drug bust

Friday, July 5, 2013 - 7:42pm

Just after 5am, a Shreveport Police Patrol officer tried to make a routine traffic stop. The driver, however, didn't feel like pulling over. The officer was eventually able to get the driver to pull over, but as soon as the car was stopped, the driver ran off.

Thinking something was up, Shreveport Police searched the car, only to find almost 50 pounds of marijuana. According to narcotics agents, that amount of marijuana has a street value of more that $40,000.

The car was impounded and the drugs were seized and brought to police headquarters, where they were tested and found to be marijuana.

Shreveport Police turned the case over the the Shreveport-Caddo Narcotics team, who are still searching for the suspect.
