Ringgold, LA (KMSS) — As of Wednesday, Ringgold, in Bienville Parish, became a town without a mayor. Town officials say they don't know Mayor Stephone Taylor's reasons for stepping down from his position.

Taylor was initially elected in 2007, and then reelected in 2010. His term in office wasn't without controversy. A petition to remove him for office was passed around in late 2012, receiving several hundred signatures.

Councilman Bobby Guin will serve as the interim mayor for the town.
