Wednesday President Obama hosted some of the drivers of the NASCAR Sprint Cup series at the White House.

They were honored for their commitment to military families.

Six-time Sprint Cup champion Jimmie Johnson got a special shout out from the President for taking part in Sheryl Sandberg's "Ban Bossy" initiative.

President Obama spoke to the attendees saying, "This Spring Jimmie joined in the 'Ban Bossy' campaign to encourage leadership among young girls. Jimmie caught some flack, I understand, for doing it but he's the father of two girls and he understands how important it is for us to lift up our young women and make sure they know they can do the same stuff that any boy can. So from somebody who is accustomed to being criticized once in a while, I just want to give you some advice - keep at it!"

Johnson caught heat on Twitter after joining the campaign, a move some fans didn't like.
