Shreveport — A trio of suspected burglars is behind bars this morning following their alleged ties to multiple vehicle burglaries in east Shreveport.
Just after 4:00 a.m. on July 23, 2014, Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to reports of a suspicious person in 300 block of Pierremont Road. Upon officer’s arrival at the scene, police gathered information indicating a male suspect had been observed sitting on a bicycle, outside a home for an extended period of time. Following a brief foot pursuit, officers soon corralled the man along with two additional men, each found in close proximity to where the call originated.
During a detention of the men, authorities learned multiple vehicle burglaries had occurred in the surrounding area to include multiple cars located in the 400 block of Gloria Drive and the 4400 block of Norway Drive. Items stolen during the vehicle burglaries were subsequently recovered from the persons of the three detained suspects.
In addition, officers recovered a firearm near Fairfield Avenue at Erie Street which was also determined to have been stolen from a vehicle. The suspects were transported to Shreveport Police headquarters where they were interviewed by Shreveport Police Property Crimes detectives. During interviews with investigators, it was learned the men may be linked to more than a dozen vehicle burglaries in the area. Investigators have since charged each man with a single count of Simple Burglary.
Devan Austin 20, Avan Austin 18, and Jabvari Green 17; all of the 5900 block of Lexington Street in Shreveport were each booked into the Shreveport City Jail. As the investigation moves forward, authorities suspect additional charges to filed against the men who are likely linked to additional property crimes throughout the area.
