Shreveport (KMSS) — Two men were arrested following their alleged involvement in multiple vehicle break-ins Monday morning.
Just after 4:00 a.m. on July 21, 2014, Shreveport officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Quail Creek Road on reports of suspicious activity. When authorities arrived, they learned a pair of men were seen entering several vehicles in the parking lot of the River Bend apartments. Witnesses said they confronted the suspects, who ran from the area. The men were pursued, with one of the suspects heading into a nearby bayou to avoid capture.
The man, identified as Brandon Bays, 21, of Blanchard, was caught after authorities fished him out of the bayou along an area near Knight Street. A second suspect, Dustin Bays, 22, was later taken into police custody by members of the Caddo Parish Sheriffs Office at his home in Blanchard.
Shreveport Police Property Crimes detectives were notified of the incident and responded accordingly. Interviews with both suspects were conducted by investigators, at which time information was gathered linking both men to the crime. Following their arrests, Dustin and Brandon Bays were arrested and charged with two counts of Simple Burglary for their roles in the burglaries of the vehicles.
