Part of Bossier Parish added to burn ban list
Bossier Parish, La — Another portion of Bossier Parish has been added to the burn ban list.
Effective immediately, Bossier Parish Fire District #4 is under a burn ban. The area affected includes the town of Benton and the surrounding area. The district starts at the northern city limits of Bossier City, north to Highway 160 and from the Red River to Midway.
Bossier Parish Fire Districts 3, 5, and 7, as well as Plain Dealing, already have a burn ban in place, and will remain in place along with Fire District #4. The boundaries of these districts run from Highway 160 north to the Arkansas state line, east to the Bossier/Webster Parish line, and west to the Red River.
Information from the National Weather Service shows rainfall amounts over the last few months in this area has not received the amount of rainfall as the rest of Bossier Parish. The recent remnants of Isaac brought wind that caused further drying of the vegetation through evaporation and little to no rain for some of the affected areas.
The burn ban will be lifted as soon as conditions improve.
