Ouachita deputy dies after shootout

SHREVERPOT - A Ouachita Parish sheriff's deputy has died from his injuries he received from a shootout last week.

Deputy J.R. Searcy was allegedly shot by Michael Tanner while responding to an aggravated assault call Thursday.

Another deputy on the scene shot Tanner dead.
