Haughton, La — During this tough economic time, many families have struggled to buy presents to put under the tree. Operation Santa Claus is a joint effort of Bossier Sheriff's Office, Shreveport Fire Department and Shreveport Police Department that give presents to children who may not otherwise get a present on Christmas.
This year they had more children to help out than ever before. In Bossier Parish, they were able to help out 220 disadvantaged children from about 83 families.
And while this event is about giving gifts to children, it also reminds people that sheriff's deputies aren't here to get people in trouble, but that they are a part of the community.
