One dead, two injured after tavern shooting in Iberia Parish
IBERIA PARISH, LA — One person is dead and two others were sent to the hospital after a shooting incident that happened early this morning at a tavern located in Iberia Parish.
Sheriff Louis Ackal advises that on July 22, 2012 shortly before 2:00 a.m. Deputies with the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office were notified of a shooting at Mon Ami Tavern on E. Hwy. 90. Deputies on scene determined that a total of three people were shot, two of the three were treated for gunshot wounds at a local hospital.
The third victim died as a result of a gunshot wound.
Detectives with the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office are investing the shootings at this time. Detectives believe the incident started with an argument inside of the tavern involving the suspect. Then incident then escalated further once the suspects and victims moved to the establishment’s parking lot.
Detectives believe there are potentially two suspects responsible for the shooting, but are not ruling out more possible suspects.
