One dead in pedestrian vs vehicle accident

A Shreveport woman who died in an afternoon crash in east Shreveport has been identified.

Just before 1 p.m. Wednesday, Shreveport Police were called to a vehicle vs pedestrian crash that occurred at the intersection of JOrdan Street and Creswell Avenue.

On arrival, officers found Julia Bay, 59, suffering form serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle driven by Charlie Patero, 46, of Shreveport.

Information and evidence at the scene found that Bay was driving a mobility impaired, electric scooter east bound on Jordan Street and was attempting to cross the roadway.

It was during this time that Bay was hit by a vehicle traveling south bound on Creswell Avenue and turning west onto Jordan Street.

Bay was taken to a local hospital and later succumbed to her injuries.

Patero was not injured in the accident but was taken to a local hospital for standard toxicological testing mandated by state law.

No exact cause has been released and investigators do not believe alcohol was a factor in this crash.

It is still under investigation at this time.

As a result fatal crash appears; so it's better to allow strict traffic rules to avoid crash and death rates and driver should follow the different traffic rules; therefore pedestrians should walk safely.
