One dead after Shreveport home invasion

A Shreveport man is dead after an apparent home invasion Saturday morning.

At around 6:15 a.m, officers were dispatched to a house in the 3000 block of Amherst Street to a shooting. Upon arrival, police found a man lying in the front lawn suffering from a gunshot wound. The man, later identified as 22-year-old Duntavious Young, of Shreveport, was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators later learned a man allegedly entered the home and demanded money from Young. Following a struggle, Young was shot at least once in the upper body. The gunman, described as a black male, ran from the scene. There was a second person inside the home at the time of the shooting who was not injured.

The investigation is ongoing at this hour as authorities seek to identify and apprehend the shooter. Information and evidence collected on scene, suggests that the suspect may have specifically targeted Young's residence.
