Officials release identity of cyclist killed in Monday accident

The name of a woman who was killed Monday evening on Greenwood Road is being released.

At approximately 10:27 p.m. on August 27, 2012, officers were dispatched to the 3900 block of Greenwood Road relative to a major crash. Upon arrival, officers discovered that 51 year old Elizabeth Washington, of Shreveport, was operating a bicycle north bound crossing Greenwood Road when she lost control of the bicycle causing her to fall to the pavement. Washington was subsequently run over by a passing motorist who was identified as 34 year old Danell Howard of Shreveport. Prior to the crash, Howard was traveling east bound operating a white Oldsmobile Cutlass when he struck Washington. Washington was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Crash investigators were dispatched and are continuing to work the case in an efforts to determine exactly what caused this crash.
