Norton gaining support for gun law changes
Shreveport, LA (KMSS) — Just days after the Sandy Hook shootings, District 3 State Representative Barbara Norton introduced her idea to make guns safer.
Her idea is to force locking up all guns when the gun owners aren't home. If a gun isn't locked up, and is stolen and then used for a crime, but the criminal and gun owner would be held responsible for the crime.
Norton is gaining support for her idea, and also hearing back from people saying that this isn't a perfect idea to keep kids safe from guns.
But for Norton, even keeping just one child safer is something she works hard to do. While she is working to get this bill the required number of votes, she is keeping busy in other areas as well.
She has been asked to be a part of the Homeland Security task force, to find a way to make schools safer for Louisiana children.
