The Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office is opening their rifle range up for parish residents at the end of the month. The rifle range, located in Plain Dealing, will be open on Friday and Saturday starting September 28 and go through October 26.
“We are happy to offer free use of our rifle range in a safe environment to our residents, especially as we approach the upcoming deer hunting season,” said Sheriff Julian Whittington. “Safety is one of my top priorities for our residents when it comes to weapons handling and operations, and we want hunters and gun enthusiasts to be fully prepared and confident with their shooting skills.”
Shooters will be able to sign up for 4 different start times, 8am, 10am, 1pm and 3pm. Shooters need to bring their own rifle and ammunition as none will be provided at the range. Ear and eye protection is also recommended, but there will be a some available at the range if necessary. The range will provide basic targets, but visitors are also welcome to bring their own paper targets.
To sign up for the rifle range, call the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Command Center at 318.935.2000. The range is located south of the North Louisiana Criminal Justice Academy at 2981 Old Plain Dealing Road and about 12 miles from Benton.
