The Natchitoches Area Jaycees donated $4,500 raised at the Cookin’ on The Cane Barbecue Festival to the Ricky Issac Jr. Scholarship Fund at Northwestern State University.

The scholarship was established to honor the legacy of Issac, an alumnus of NSU’s criminal justice program and a Natchitoches Parish sheriff’s deputy at the time of his death in December 2012.

The scholarship encourages students who are working toward their degree to use Issac’s example and legacy as a model for their own future.

Attending the donation ceremony were, from left, Jaycees Dr. Bill Luster and Alan Pasch, criminal justice faculty member Richard Hughbank, Assistant Vice President of External Affairs for University Advancement Dr. Chris Maggio, Northwestern State President Dr. Randall J. Webb, Jaycees Jason Stelly, Jon Caliste and Josh Manual, NSU Associate Director of Development Jill Bankston and Jaycees Vanner Erikson and David Peddy.
