
Marshall, Tx — A Marshall man died Friday shortly after being shocked with a stun gun by Marshall police during an arrest.
Marcus Dewayne Slade, 32, was shocked and arrested about 8:30 p.m. Friday and taken to the Harrison County Jail; just before 9 p.m. an ambulance was called because Slade was unresponsive, according to police reports.
About 8:30 p.m. police responded to a disturbance call near the intersection of East Houston Street and Scoggins Street in Marshall, according to a statement from the department.
“Upon officers’ arrival, they were confronted by an uncooperative nude black male. A struggle ensued and the black male was Tased,” the statement read. “Marcus Dewayne Slade was arrested for disorderly conduct, assault on a peace officer and resisting arrest.”
Slade was pronounced dead by Harrison County Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Kenneth Alford, who ordered an autopsy of the body, according to the statement.
Slade’s death is under investigation by the Texas Rangers.
