MLK Birmingham jail letter

50 years later

Students, faculty and staff at the Bossier Parish Community College joined millions around the country to celebrated Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s famous Birmingham jail letter.

The letter was written by Dr. King from a Birmingham jail cell in 1963 and today marked the 50th anniversary.

The event was sponsored by the Birmingham Public Library.

The letter has been called one of the most important written documents of the civil rights movement.
