Shannon Richardson, suspected of sending ricin laced letters to President Barack Obama and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, spent the afternoon in a Texarkana court Thursday.

Richardson's attorney waived the detention hearing, but filed papers requesting a mental evaluation of Richards. The judge granted the request for the evaluation.

After first telling police her husband, Nathaniel, sent the ricin laced letters, Richardson confessed to FBI agents that she sent the letters herself. According to the FBI affidavit, this happened June 6, after Richardson failed a polygraph test.
