A Marshall man was arrested Tuesday after holding up the Family Dollar store the day before.

At 8:18 p.m., 911 received a call on an alleged robbery that had taken place at the business on the 600 block of West Grand, according to the Marshall Police Department.

An employee told authorities a black man had entered the store with a hand in his pocket as if he had a weapon in it and demanded the cash register be opened.

After opening the register, the suspect, later identified as Robert Edward Deramus, 41, of Marshall, grabbed an undisclosed amount of money and ran heading westbound on Highway 80.

On Tuesday, Deramus turned himself in at the Harrison County Sheriff's Office. He was booked into the jail on charges of robbery, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, theft and organized retail theft.
