Marshall, tx — A Marshall man is in custody after he shot a man dead during an argument at his house over the weekend.
At around 8 a.m. on Saturday, Harrison County dispatchers received a call regarding a shooting in the 300 block of Floyd Evans Road. When deputies arrived, they saw Curtis Jerome Roberts, 53, lying on the ground, bleeding from a gunshot wound to his chest.
Deputies administered first aid to Roberts, but were not able to save him. At 9:15 p.m., he was pronounced dead at the scene by Judge Westy Meisenheimer and an autopsy was ordered.
The homeowner, James Earl Rudd, 60, was placed into a squad car as witnesses were interviewed. Authorities were told Rudd and Roberts had been arguing during a party throughout the day, and it culminated when Rudd allegedly grabbed a shotgun and killed Roberts.
Rudd was placed under arrest, taken to the Harrison County Jail and booked on one count of murder.
